UPSA Benefit Sporting Clays Shoot Update

On May 17th, we held a sporting clays shoot at the Sagola Township Sportsmans Club. 50 targets over a 10 station cource saw 45 shooters test their ability. There was strong representation from many of the clubs, as well as much needed donated prizes. Each registered shooter received a UPSA decal that can help the UPSA cause. Members can buy decals for $2.00 apiece and they will be available at the next UPSA meeting at the Sagola Township Sportsmans Club on July 26th. To read more about the shoot, click here.

Some words from Dale McNamee

1. The MDNR is currently taking comments on the Wolf Management plan. They have extended the time to allow further comment and this has angered the antis who plan to deluge the department with their views. Please voice you thoughts with the Director or the Wildlife Division. Addresses can be found on the MDNR web page at www.michigan.gov/dnr.

2. George Lindquist of the Marquette Whitetails chapter has come up with a plan that would ease pressur on our Bucks. Under his plan a hunter(bow or deer) could apply dor a single buck license that would allow the taking of one buck (bow could be antlerless) with 3"antlers or better and the Combination licence under which two bucks may be killed. The first would be for a buck with 3 points on a side and the second would requoire 4 pt. on a side. It is not perfect but it is a stat to better buck harvest that would allow all hunters to their preference. You may read an article on this at http://www.mingjournal.net/page/content.detail/id509695.html. Please relay your thoughts to the Wildlife Division.
