UPSA Sporting Clays
Shoot
Saturday, May 17th the Upper Peninsula
Sportsmen’s Alliance
held a sporting clays shoot at the Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club with some
windy conditions, which made some of the targets a little more difficult than
usual. 50 targets over a 10 station course saw 45 shooters test their ability.
We had strong representation from many of the clubs as well as much needed
donated prizes. The staff at STSC did an excellent job setting targets and all
the trap machines worked flawlessly. Each registered shooter received a UPSA
decal that can help the UPSA cause. Members can buy decals for $2.00/apiece and
they will be available at the next UPSA meeting at STSC, on July 26 and
representatives attending the meeting are encouraged to buy quantities for
members of their indivdual clubs. We had approximately 45 prizes to give away
with the top prize being a 12 gauge,Harrington/Richardson automatic shotgun
that my daughter Alix won in the random drawing breaking 17/50 targets which
goes to show that breaking more targets helps your odds, however its still the
luck of the draw. Birdhouses, lots of knives, gun cleaning kits, coolers,
canvas chairs, gun cases, shotgun shells, rifle scope, free rounds of sporting
clays, free memberships, pheasnt hunt for 2, fishing rod and reel are just some
of the prizes that were given away. We netted out approximately $1150.00 and I
would like to thank all the members and non-members that participated and all
the help that enabled this event to be successful. If you feel that this event
should be held again next year, then we should consider a date and select a
chairman for the event.
Thank you
Paul Polanski
Secretary UPSA
